BULLETIN - RUBENS

Conseil communal de la ville
d'Anvers
pour la publication des documents
relatifs à la vie et aux
oeuvres de Rubens
In 1974 we published a
reprint edition of Charles Ruelens & Max Rooses' Correspondance de Rubens
et Documents Epistolaires concernant sa vie et ses oeuvres (5 vols. in folio,
orig. published from 1886-1892); in 1977 we reprinted Max Rooses' L'oeuvre de Rubens,
5 vols., orig. publ. from 1886-1892. Both reprint editions have been received
well in the art historical world.
As we received the information that the BULLETIN - RUBENS, originally published
from 1882-1900, is very often lacking in art historical libraries, we have
decided to undertake a reprint edition of this work which contains so much
further information on the life of Rubens. A special brochure with an extensive
description of the contents is available on request.
The Rubens-Bulletin
remains an invaluable source for archival documents on Rubens and his family
published above all by P. Génard and C. Ruelens. In addition it
comprises Max Rooses' Addenda and Corrigenda to his five volumes: L'oeuvre
de P.P. Rubens. It's scarcity in American libraries would make a reprint
most desirable.

Republishing this set is certainly interesting. Even though a few facts have
been rendered out of date by later publications, the set is still important as
a basic source for Rubens Studies.
